“HEALTHY BENEFITS”

At the beach.

“He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed,” it says in Proverbs 11:25.

Not long ago I read in my devotional treasury by C. H. Spurgeon, “To give to others is but sowing seed for ourselves.”

On one of the health pages in the magazine called FOOD (FOOD MAY / JUNE 2017), I find this: “PEOPLE WHO ARE HELPING OTHER PEOPLE BUT DON’T EXPECT ANY IN RETURN – THIS IS THE HELP THAT YOU GET THE MOST HEALTH BENEFITS FROM.”

And C. H. Spurgeon again: “The person who takes all but makes no return is out of joint with the universe. And he says also: “He who is so good a steward as to be willing to use his substance for the Lord, shall be entrusted with more.”

LIFE ETERNAL

“How to live longer,” is the article in  the magazine FOOD called. (FOOD MAY / JUNE 2017)

In order not only to extend our life, but also to live a healthier  life, we must do certain things, we are told.

Here are the certain things:

  • Reading
  • Eating nuts

    EATING AN APPLE

  • Eating an apple
  • Drinking three cups of coffee in one day
  • Brisk walking daily for 25 minutes
  • Planning for the future, or at least for tomorrow
  • Helping other people voluntarily

Maybe you are already doing those things, maybe not all, but some of them.

But no matter how long we live, all of us die eventually. Someone said that if we are doing all those things, we are going to die healthier. But eventually we are going to die.

But thank God, that we can extend our life into eternal life by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 3:14,15 says: “‘JUST AS MOSES LIFTED UP THE SNAKE IN THE DESERT, SO THE SON OF MAN MUST BE LIFTED UP, THAT EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM MAY HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.'”

DIGITAL INTERACTION

“Even just one hour spent together builds bonds that digital interaction won’t come near to.”

That was said by someone who went on a trip to build relationships. He met with coffee farmers and coffee exporters.

COFFEE

I am reading that in the magazine called “PRESS” (Allpress Espresso News) No 4. 2017.

Not long ago I read the letters of John in the Bible, of John, who wrote also the fourth Gospel.

I noticed that in his second and in his third letter he mentions that writing letters is quite alright, but that he rather prefers to talk to people face to face. You find that at the end of the two letters. In fact he says in 2 John 12 “…, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.”

“The beloved disciple” John knew even at that time that “face to face” communication is better than “digital interaction”.

PROMISES

“Time to call in the promises,” is the article in our local paper called. (The Northland Age, Thursday, October 26, 2017)

In the article it says that some people are “especially keen to pick up discussions” on election promises. For those who don’t know we have just had a general election in New Zealand.

I am reminded of the promises  in the Bible, the promises of the Lord Jesus Christ.

To call in the election promises is of course after an election, but to call in the promises of the Lord Jesus Christ is all the time. Let us also remember that for different reasons promises made by people cannot be kept, but let us also remember that the Lord Jesus Christ is always keeping His promises.

And here is one of the precious promises of the Lord:

“‘…, AND CALL UPON ME IN THE DAY OF TROUBLE; I WILL DELIVER YOU, AND YOU WILL HONOR ME.'” (Psalm 50:15)

HEALTHY FAMILIES

At the beach.

“Healthy Families,” was written on the car that zoomed passed me yesterday. So it is not surprising, that healthy families are still on my mind.

There is not only physical health, but there is also spiritual health.

A healthy family is a Christian home consisting of  a Father who fears the Lord, a Mother who fears the Lord, and children who fear the Lord.

The head of the home is the HUSBAND. That is the will of God. The first duty of the WIFE is to love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ, and her second duty is to obey her husband. CHILDREN are commanded to honor father and mother. (Exodus 20:12)

What are the two secrets of a successful Christian home? The first is in the family altar, where the Lord Jesus Christ is crowned as Head of the home. Love is the second secret.

Physical health is very important, but spiritual health is even more important.
