GROWING THE SOUL

We are most familiar with our body, and we know that we must feed our body.

But man is a tripartite being. The Bible teaches clearly that man has three parts. We consist of three component parts, namely body, soul and spirit. Please read First Thessalonians 5:23 and Hebrews 4:12.

But do we know that we need to feed our soul?

How do we feed our soul?

READING THE BIBLE

We must read the Bible. We must study the Bible. We must try to understand the Bible. We must read books about the Bible.

Coming Sunday is Mother’s Day and a sign on our main street says:

“LIFE DOESN’T COME WITH A MANUAL. IT COMES WITH A MOTHER.”

Life surely comes with a mother, but it also comes with a manual, and the manual is the BIBLE!

PRAYER

How much time do we spend in the presence of the Lord? If we read the biographies of the men of God we will find that these saints spent four or five hours daily in PRAYER.

THERE IS ALSO THE NEED FOR READING BIOGRAPHIES

There was in fact a time in my life when I read lots of biographies and autobiographies.

I have here before me three books by Isobel Kuhn in one volume and I think I should read them again. The books are: BY SEARCHING, NESTS ABOVE THE ABYSS and IN THE ARENA.

I believe that reading biographies and autobiographies made me go to Thailand as a missionary.

These three things help the soul to grow.
