TWO VISITS

On my first visit to the new coffee shop here in Kaitaia I saw the following written on the wall:

“H. O. P. E.

hold on, pain ends”

But only on the second visit I caught on to the real meaning of the writing.

I am sure you are quicker to catch on.

“SPRING INTO A GOOD BOOK”

“Spring into a good book.”

That encouragement I saw yesterday when visiting out local library. For those who don’t know, September is the first month of spring in New Zealand.

SOVEREIGN GRACE by D. L. Moody

SOVEREIGN GRACE by D. L. Moody

Also a bookmark at the library caught my eye. “This bookmark belongs to – name – SUPER READER!”

Not that I need to go into the library to “spring into a good book.” I have so many good books in my own library. Some of them I have not even read properly. But that is alright.

I love books and only recently I finished sorting them according to authors. They are now easier to find

I must say it again that a good number of my good books were bought second-hand and very cheap.

One of them is Sovereign grace by D.L. Moody. What a treasure and I bought it for 50 cents.

“By grace are ye saved,” it says on one of the first pages of the book. We find that verse in Ephesians 2:8 in the Bible.

The book I really love is the Bible.

Some time ago I looked up “GOOD BOOK” in The Collins Concise Dictionary and there it says that “GOOD BOOK” is “a name for the Bible.”

Who wants to be a “SUPER READER” of the Bible?

I do! I hope you do too!

MESSAGES

There are messages from people and there are messages from God.

MESSAGES FROM PEOPLE.

Messages from people are often lies.

MESSAGES FROM THE LORD.

Messages from the Lord are always the truth.

To which messages are we listening?

AT THE MEAL TABLE

The conversation went something like this:

There was a flower in the room.

Someone observed, “Those flowers are turning to the light.” The reply to that from someone else was, “Flowers are cleverer than people.”

They are cleverer than most people.

In John 8:12 the Lord Jesus Christ says: “‘I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.'”

Let us learn from the flowers and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ, the light of the world.

Quote GERMAN

“Mein Gebet fuer die Kinder geht dahin, dass sie gerettet werden moechten nicht nur fuer das gegenwaertige, sondern auch fuer das kuenftige Leben; ich sehe keinen andern Weg zu diesem Ziel als einen Unterricht, eine Erziehung und ein Beispiel, die alle drei darauf ausgerichtet sind, das Kinderherz mit dem gekreuzigten und auferstandenen Herrn zu verbinden.” – Thomas John Barnardo

Barnardo fundraisers are in Kaitaia at the present time.

Reading the Bible!

The Bible

The Bible

READING THE BIBLE FROM COVER TO COVER.

I started with the first book of the Bible (GENESIS), at the beginning of this year and not long ago I finished reading the Old Testament. I started reading the New Testament and I am hoping to finish the last book of the Bible  (REVELATION), by the end of this year.

The reason for writing this is to encourage you to read “THE BOOK OF BOOKS”. (Bible)

WORLD VEGETARIAN MONTH: OCTOBER

In our library I find SAFE’S Colouring Competition called “EATING KIND”.

Our library is full of information

Our library is full of information

I am learning that OCTOBER is WORLD VEGETARIAN MONTH.

We are encouraged to get behind EATING KIND.

I am also told what “Eating kind” in World Vegetarian Month means. It means keeping animals off my plate.

Children who are taking part in the Colouring  Competition are also to write why animals need our kindness.

to the man I remember from our time in KAIKOHE (United Maori Mission), who did not wait and did not apply for his superannuation although he was eligible. He said that he could manage without the pension.

People like that are hard to find. Do you know people like that? I would really like to know!
