“LOUD SHIRT DAY 2016”

“Loud Shirt Day,” Friday, September 23, 2016.

We are encouraged to wear our loudest shirt and donate to help New Zealand deaf kids to listen and speak. We are also told to “Help give deaf kids a voice” and we are also asked, “How much would you give to hear?”

There is not only physical deafness, but there is also spiritual deafness.

PHYSICAL DEAFNESS

We are reading about physical deafness in the Bible.

In Matthew 11:5 the Lord Jesus Christ says, “the deaf hear.” In Mark 7:32 the Lord Jesus Christ heals a deaf and mute man. And in Mark 9:25 the Lord Jesus Christ rebukes a deaf and mute spirit.

SPIRITUAL DEAFNESS

But the Bible speaks also  about spiritual deafness.

Second Timothy 4:4 tells us about our ears. Truth is also mentioned and we are told about myths. We can choose to listen to myths or the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ is the truth. (John 14:6)

In Titus 1:13,14 we read again about Jewish myths and the truth. People who pay attention to Jewish myths and reject the truth are not sound in the faith.

Physical deafness is bad enough, but spiritual deafness is worse. Let us make every effort to help spiritually deaf people to listen to the truth!
