STRESS

Inspiration and notes gleaned from the book “Lass dein Heil uns schauen” by Wilhelm Busch, page 165.

“STRESS IS CAUSED BY BEING ‘HERE’ BUT WANTING TO BE ‘THERE’,” says Eckhardt Tolle.

Our hearts are restless. We are never completely happy. Something is always lacking.

HEART

HEART

If our life is quite calm, we are looking for some action. If we are experiencing storms in our life, we are longing for calmer days.

Is that your story at the moment?

If we are at home, we want to be abroad. If we are overseas, we are feeling homesick.

I ask again, is that your situation at the present time?

Is it it not the wish of some young men to possess a motorbike? And once they have a bike, they find that a motorbike is not so good when it is raining. They are wishing for a car. Once they have a small car, they are going all over the place, but they are annoyed that the big cars are overtaking them. Now they want a bigger car. Money is saved up to buy a BMW. Soon a BMW is not quick enough and they are thinking of flying a helicopter.

Something is always lacking. Human beings are like that.

“I shall not want,” says David at the beginning of Psalm 23.

The heart of David is at rest. He was able to say ‘Yes’ to his life. Why did he experience peace like that? Because he could say, “THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD.”

If we can say that as well, let us take that sentence seriously and really believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is our shepherd.

“Our hearts are restless until they find rest in thee,” said Augustine.
