UNITED MAORI MISSION

Just back from a meeting at VIRTUE CHRISTIAN CENTRE in the middle of Kaitaia.
Guest Speaker was the newly appointed director of the UMM (United Maori Mission) Terrance Wallace.
From the end of 1980 until the end of 2004 we used to work under the United Maori Mission for the Lord in Kaitaia and Kaikohe. Almost 25 years!

PERSONAL EVANGELISM and MY PULPIT IS THE WORLD
Listen to people and act:
ROCKS
All of a sudden I heard them talking about rocks, but not the rocks you find on the field.
I assume that it was a mother saying about her daughter that she was her rock. After that an elderly lady said pointing to the gentleman at her side, “He is my rock.” They were probably husband and wife.
Now it is time for you to join the conversation and tell those complete strangers that you also have a rock, and that the Lord Jesus Christ is your rock.
Many verses in the Bible are telling us that the Lord Jesus Christ is our rock. Here are some from the Psalms: Psalm 18:2; Psalm 19:14 and Psalm 40:2. It pays to have a pocket Bible on you for occasions like that.
Use Psalm 40:1-3 and tell them briefly how the Lord turned to you and heard your cry and how he lifted you out of the slimy pit. And so on!
WATER
There is a water shortage in Kaitaia at the moment because of the drought. The residents of Kaitaia are admonished to conserve water.
So I should not really have been astonished to hear them talking about water. But in fact I was.
What an oppportunity now to talk about the Living Water. The Lord Jesus Christ is talking about the Living Water in John 4:10. (John 4:1-26) John 6:35; John 7:37.

“SAFETY MESSAGE FALLING ON DEAF EARS”

The message is, that “THE FIRE RISK ACROSS NORTHLAND IS EXTREME.”
But the headline in the local paper, THE NORTHLAND AGE today is: “FIREFIGHTERS DESPAIR AT STUPIDITY OF FIREBUGS.” And under the headline you can read, “Safety message falling on deaf ears.” – Please read the whole article.
We are also having drought conditions here at the moment.
On the same page, the front page, it also says “TAPS ARE STILL RUNNING.” “The Far North District Council’s ban on hoses and irrigation systems hasn’t done much to curb Kaitaia’s water usage. Consumption over the last nine days has stubbornly exceeded 3,000 cubic metres per day,…..”
1. THERE IS THE MESSAGE ABOUT THE EXTREME FIRE RISK!
A fire officer says, “Some people just don’t seem to be able to get it – …”
2. THERE IS THE MESSAGE TO CONSERVE WATER!
“Consumption…..has stubbornly exceeded……”
Those messages are very important!
But there is another message. That message is more important than any other messages. That is the message of the BIBLE, the Word of the Living God!
The Bible says in John 3:16:
“FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONE AND ONLY SON;….”
Read also the verses 17 an 18 of John chapter 3!
Please get that message!
Please don’t be stubborn!
DON’T LET THAT MESSAGE FALL ON DEAF EARS!!

Only a couple of days ago we passed through the little town of Kaeo here in beautiful Northland. On the side of the road I noticed the sign:

WHAT DID YOU SAY?
I SAID THAT AN ATHEIST TRULY BELIEVES THAT AFRICA NEEDS GOD!
I have read many books and articles, but what I read here in a letter from Biblesinaction is really extraordinary. I almost find it hard to understand. The letter from Biblesinaction is dated 18 March 2009. I will not quote from the letter, but I will write what I find hard to understand in my own words. Here we go:
There is an atheist, a confirmed atheist who truly believes that Africa needs God. He knows about the passivity of the people’s mindset. He says that that is the biggest problem in Africa. And the solution? Not aid money! What is the solution? MISSIONARIES! MISSIONARIES! And that says an atheist.
He compares Christian Evangelism with the work of secular government projects. He says that international aid efforts alone will not do. He says education will not do it either. But he says the gospel is changing hearts. Praise the Lord!
