FREEDOM
Posted by Werner Dekarski in Diary on December 14, 2009
There are already a good number of FREEDOM posts on this blog. Today I am going to make another FREEDOM entry.
I am looking at an ad and the advertisement is finishing with the word Freedom. I am reading, “10 things to do this summer.” Thing number 10 is “Discover freedom.” And the ad carries on in big letters: “Whatever you do this summer, make sure you get your own taste of freedom in the new Honda Jazz.”

I am reading ‘MY’ Regional Newsletter and Verses from the Bible are coming to my Mind.
Posted by Werner Dekarski in Diary on December 13, 2009
I am reading the December 2009 regional newsletter called “Regional Report.” We received the report by post.
Believe me, I am surprised myself, how many verses from the Bible, the Word of the Living God, are coming to my mind while doing so.
WHAT ARE WE PUTTING FIRST?
It starts on the front page, where it says that the Northland Regional Council is “Putting Northland first”. On the last page we find the same announcement and “Creating a Region of choice” is added.
Inside the paper the Northland Regional Council is also talking about commitment, but that is another story.
What are we putting first? That is a very good question.
Are we putting the kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and his righteousness first? We are supposed to do so. Read again the promise in Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
“SHOUTING IT FROM THE ROOF TOP”
That is a headline in the same paper and underneath you can read, “As this edition of the Regional Report goes to press the Northland Events Centre will reach a milestone, with the roof completed – topping the new four – storey structure.”
When the Lord is sending out the Twelve he says to them,”What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.” That is Matthew 10:27. (Read the whole chapter of Matthew 10.) Preaching the message is commanded.
“WATCH YOUR WAKE”

Another article in the same letter.
The first sentence of this article goes like this,” ‘Watch your wake’ is one of the key messages Northland Regional Council maritime staff are communicating to boat users this summer.” (A wake is the wave created by a moving vessel.)
The MESSAGE of the Bible is communicated to us by the ONE who is holding the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 16:19 The Lord Jesus Christ is also holding the keys of death. He is also holding the keys of Hades. Revelation 1:18
The MESSAGE of the ONE who is holding the keys of the kingdom of heaven, the keys of death and the keys of Hades is this:
” ‘COME TO ME, ALL YOU WHO ARE WEARY AND BURDENED, AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST.’ “
Have you come to the Lord Jesus Christ? If you have not come yet, come now!
In Acts 16:31 we read, ” ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.’ “
“SEEKING THE GOOD LIFE?”
On the last page of the regional newsletter I find the headline: “Seeking the good life?” The urbanites are mentioned there who are looking for the ‘good life’ and face all sorts of problems. And even worse often they do not know where to turn to for help and advice.
Turn to the Lord Jesus Christ. He will give you the good life. In John 11:25 the Lord says, ” ‘I am the resurrection and LIFE.’ ” In John 10:10 the Lord says this, “I have come that they may have life, AND HAVE IT TO THE FULL.”
“A Daring Adventure.”
“LIFE IS EITHER A DARING ADVENTURE OR NOTHING.”

“CHRISTMAS BEGINS AT NEW WORLD” (Supermarket)

Where does Christmas begin or start?
Christmas begins or starts at New World. For those who don’t know, NEW WORLD is a supermarket.
This is now from memory.
But so far as I can remember, I saw that written on one of the New World plastic bags many, many years, when we were working with the United Maori Mission in Kaikohe. (From 1981 until 2004)
BABY – BOMBE
“Saving the Environment begins at Home.”

Today I received an email.
One sentence was printed in red and there was even a little picture to go with the sentence: A road winding along and a tree in the distance. The email said, “Please consider the environment before printing this email.” I did just the opposite and printed it. I had a special reason to do so.
That email was a reminder. I remembered again the two lovely young men I met in front of the Kaitaia Post office a number of days ago. Especially one of them talked very quick and excitedly about GREENPEACE. I was all with them. I mean, I agreed with them. I am very careful with all the things I have and try to keep them in good order and I hate loosing things. – And we should save the environment! Do you agree with that?
At the end of our conversation I asked for some literature and they gave me a little card with the headline: Saving the environment begins at home.” Eight points were listed underneath how to do that. Let me just mention three of them:
1. We are told to refuse plastic bags at the supermarket. And I love them! How many are given out every day in NZ? Have a guess? The number is given! (3 million!)
2. “Driving 100km/hr instead of 110km can cut 13% of your fuel bill, but taking public transport or walking/biking reduces fuel use even more.”
Where is the public transport? It is very dangerous to go by bike anywhere. I hear that on the news. It is also dangerous on my little scooter – and from now on more expensive.
3. On the little card I read also about methane. Methane is a climate changing gas. Food scraps in landfills produce methane. Therefore what? You guessed it. “Compost your food scraps.” Are you doing that already? That is good.
But why am I writing all this?
Just as “saving the environment begins at home”, witnessing begins at home! Acts 1:8 Click on the address and read. Saves me writing Acts 1:8. We should actually know that important verse off by heart. Do you?
And – believe it or not, those two fine young men were also disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. And – yes I believed them – they were different. You know what I am talking about.
I think I had also my special cap on my head – but no mention of the cap was made so far as I can remember.

Second Timothy 4:3
“For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
