Courage

“Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are stiffened.” – Billy Graham

Not long ago I saw a film – movie – about Martin Luther, the German leader of the Protestant Reformation. He was a man of courage! He lived from 1483-1546. He died when he was 63!

The’Cutting Edge’.

I have heard people talk about the cutting edge. You have heard people talk about the cutting edge. And not too long ago I have been reading about the cutting edge. The cutting edge was mentioned in a catalogue advertising electrical appliances.

I told myself to forget about the cutting edge. However, when I was just about to do so, I came across the following verse in my daily reading of the Bible. In Proverbs 27:17 it says:

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

And then I asked myself a couple of questions:

Are we still on the cutting edge of making disciples of all nations? Matthew 28:19

Are we still on the cutting edge of preaching the GOOD NEWS to all creation? Mark 16:15

Are we still on the cutting edge of preaching repentance and forgiveness of sins in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to all nations, beginnng at Jerusalem? Luke 24:47

Are we still on the cutting edge of being witnesses for the Lord Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth? Acts 1:8

If we as individuals are on the cutting edge of making disciples of all nations, the church or missionary society we are belonging to, will also be on the cutting edge of making disciples of all nations.

“HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS”

Yesterday I read the following: “We all know that home is also where the heart is…”

Yes, that is a well known phrase. I have read it several times in the past and you have probably also. In fact, it is already twice on this blog. But I like it very much indeed!P1070231

Is your heart at home on this earth or do you belong to the company of those people of faith mentioned in Hebrews 11:1-40, who “…were longing for a better country – a heavenly one.” Hebrews 11:16 Their heart was at home in heaven.

They were “….looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” Hebrews 11:10; Second Corinthians 5:1

I am glad, that I also belong to those people of faith. I also admit, that I am an alien on this earth. I am a stranger on this earth. Hebrews 11:13

I used to live in Thailand from 1966-1979 and the thai people reminded us again and again that we were aliens and strangers in their country. They called us ‘Farang’. “Farang’ is the thai word for Westerners, for people with white skins.

I am also “longing for a better country – a heavenly one.” Hebrews 11:16 My heart is at home in heaven!

Where is your heart at HOME?
