EARTH HOUR
Posted by werner in Uncategorized on March 21, 2009
The fight against climate change is on. We can support the fight by turning our lights off from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturday, 28 March 2009. Earth hour is at that time.

This is what I read in “Coffee News” Vol 96:3:
“The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.”

Job 14:1,2
“MAN BORN OF WOMAN IS OF FEW
DAYS AND FULL OF TROUBLE. HE
SPRINGS UP LIKE A FLOWER AND
WITHERS AWAY; LIKE A FLEETING
SHADOW, HE DOES NOT ENDURE.”

Bouncing Back
How you handle adversity in the workplace has much more impact on your career than how you handle the good stuff. When pessimistic people run into obstacles in the workplace, in relationships or in sports, they give up. When optimistic people encounter obstacles, they try harder.
The people who know how to overcome adversity are the ones who rise to the top of the organisation. – Martin Seligman, quoted by HEATH ROW in Fast Company
“KNOW WHERE YOU STAND”
Posted by werner in Uncategorized on March 15, 2009
I saw the article called “Know where you stand” in the “Franchise New Zealand” magazine and it was all about “Buying a Franchise”. (Volume 17 Issue 4) It was about borrowing money as well.
Straight away I was awake! Of course, it is very important to know where we stand. “Know where you stand” was written without an exclamation mark in the article. But I would like to make exclamation marks behind the headline. It is very important to know where we stand with our finances.
But it is even more important to know where we stand with our creator, the God of the universe. As we are born we stand condemned before God. Only as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are we no longer condemned. John 3:18
Believers are standing on the rock. They have a firm place to stand on. They have been lifted out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire. Psalm 40:2.
Once we know where we stand with God, we also know where we stand with our finances. Or better we should know where we stand with our finances. The Bible says in Romans 13:8: “Let no debt remain outstanding,….”
In fact, the article in the “Franchise New Zealand” magazine says also that , the less debt we have, the better we are off.
It all started on the 17th of March 2007…

More than 117 years ago – Spurgeon
Posted by werner in Uncategorized on March 14, 2009
There are people, who are blessed by the Lord. There are people, the Lord is speaking to. Those people are filled with the joy of the Lord. Those people have something to say.
That’s what happened to me on the tenth of March this month, here in Kaitaia. That’s actually the reason, why I am writing down the following.
I picked up my favourite devotional book “Morning and Evening” – “Daily Readings.” I read the evening portion ( Job 14:1) and the Lord put new life into me, while reading it. That’s also the reason, why I read that portion several times. The Lord blessed me. The Lord spoke to me. The Lord refreshed me. Praise His name!
By now you probably know, that that devotional book was written by C. H. Spurgeon. I have also another book, which briefly summarizes the Life of Spurgeon. He was born in 1834, and died at the age of 58 in 1892. All his books where written before 1892. – Dead people don’t write books! – Also the devotional book mentioned above was written 117 years ago, probably in London.
Spurgeon probably never had in mind, to bless me with that portion of writing here in Kaitaia, at the other end of the world, on the tenth of March 2009 – but the Lord Jesus Christ did.
I marvel about things like that. Are you going to marvel with me?
