At the Hairdresser’s Establishment (My Pulpit is the World)

Many men and women are already  in the salon waiting, waiting, waiting…. Another elderly man is entering the salon slowly, occupying the empty seat beside me  and straight away we are starting to talk. We have never met before.p1050499

In the course of our interesting conversation we are  also talking about spiritual things and I am also asking him,  “Are you interested in computers?”  “No”, is the answer.

At the end of our pleasant conversation I must sadly admit that he is more interested in computers than in spiritual things. But that is probably my fault.

I know his address and I will send him one of the leaflets I have written. The leaflet explains how to come as a sinner to the Lord Jesus Christ. The title is ‘At the end of the day’  from the series LESSONS FROM DAILY LIVING.

GOLDEN NUGGET – It is for me!

Ecclesiastes 4:4 (easy to remember)

“And I saw that all labour and all achievement spring from man’s envy of his neighbor. This too is meaningless, a chasing after wind.”

Examining the Scriptures

Only by examining the Bible can we find out if what we hear and sing is according to the Scriptures.

The Bereans did just that: Acts 17:11

“… and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”

I like the word “searching” better!

I just read the Bible!

GOLDEN NUGGET

In Second Chronicles 20:12 Jehoshaphat is praying:

“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.”

Is that not also our prayer?

“HELL” – - “GOD” (The Victorian Bushfires)

We are used to find the words hell and God in the Bible. (But let me say here straight away, that we don’t hear much about what the Bible teaches about hell from the pulpits).

That’s why I was surprised today to find the word “hell” at least twice on the front page of The New Zealand Herald and the word “God” at least once.

The headline: “HELL ON  EARTH.”

“Hell in all its fury has visited the good people of Victoria in the last 24 hours.” – Prime Minister Kevin Rudd

“All those  who have made it into the town will be fine. The others will be sheltering and working on their fire plans, God help them.” – Peter Mitchell, a resident of the town of Kinglake

The New Zealand Herald – Monday, February 9, 2009

Find out for yourselve what the Bible teaches on the subject of hell. Here is one verse: Mark 9:43

Psalm 94:11

DER HERR WEISS DIE GEDANKEN DER MENSCHEN.
