OPEN AIR MEETING IN KAITAIA

Today, (29. 11. 08) I witnessed an Open Air Meeting in Kaitaia. And that was not the first time, that I saw somebody preaching at that corner. Needless to say, I went to talk to the preacher!

The Love of Christ

Second Corinthians 5:14,20

“FOR CHRIST’S LOVE COMPELS US……..WE IMPLORE YOU ON CHRIST’S BEHALF: BE RECONCILED TO GOD.”

IS CHRIST’S LOVE REALLY COMPELLING US?

I REMEMBER………..

This is what they said about a well known pastor in Germany:

“HE IS ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT THE LORD JESUS!”

What are people saying about ME? What are they saying about YOU?

Is it a ‘no win’ situation?

We were sitting around the kitchen table and in the course of our conversation I said something like this, “You cannot win, either people feel sorry for you or they envy you. Successful people are envied and  non-achievers are pitied.” Nobody said anything contrary to that. So it is probably true.

And………. we are all on the same boat.

The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:4 (easy to remember)

“And I saw that all labour and all achievement spring from man’s envy of his neighbour. This too is meaningless, a chasing after wind.”

More about talking:

C. H. Spurgeon (I hope the name is familiar) says in one of his books:

“WE MAY JUDGE THE SECRETS OF THE SOUL BY THEIR MANIFESTATION

IN THE MAN’S CONVERSATION.”

“HE WHO HAS THE SON HAS LIFE; HE WHO DOES NO HAVE THE SON OF GOD DOES NOT HAVE LIFE.”

Do you have the SON OF GOD?

Waiting in a long line at the Post Office- Personal Evangelism

“Gifts, family and meals, was the answer I received when I asked a young lady with a baby girl in her arms what she was looking forward to at Christmas time.

We were standing in a long line at the Post office to be served. I started with pointing to the Christmas cards and said,” There it says ‘Share the Joy’.”

Our short conversation finished about like this,” God gave us the greatest gift in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord died for our sins. Now we can have peace with God and enter heaven.”

COMMITMENT!

Today I received a letter from an Evangelist in Germany. We used to evangelize together in the north of Germany near the danish border.

The letter encouraged me greatly!

He writes about two things:

Firstly he says that he is praying for us every day!

Secondly he says that he is reading through the Bible once a year and that he has done that already for more than forty years!

He belongs to the Brethren Church.

I HAVE THE MESSAGE FOR CHRISTMAS AND THE NEW YEAR (2009) COMBINED

The word FUTURE has been staring at me from everywhere during this year. That’s the reason why you find so many posts about the FUTURE on this blog.

But what about the FUTURE?

Only the Lord Jesus Christ is the answer to that question. He says so himself in Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

What a verse. I can only marvel. The Lord is the beginning, the end, he is, he was, he is the ALMIGHTY, he is coming…..!

He came as a Saviour. We are reading about that in Luke 2:11 “Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you, he is Christ, the Lord.”

But he is coming again for a second time as judge. Are you looking forward to His Second Coming? I do, because he is my Saviour and not my judge.

Soon we will be reading something like this in the newspapers, “We don’t know what the FUTURE has in store for us!” Or something like this,” The FUTURE is dark before us.”

I say, “No, that is not true. The FUTURE is certainly not dark before me. I have a living Saviour and I am praising him.”

Pastor W. Busch was a youth pastor in Essen (Germany) and he celebrated the New Year’s eve with hundreds of young men. (Weigle Haus) Many of the young people played the trumpet and at midnight they went into the open air and played a hymn to the praise of God. (Grosser Gott, wir loben Dich! Herr, wir preisen Deine Staerke!) Soon the fire crackers stopped and it became very quiet and the people were listening.

How good it is to start the New Year with the PRAISE OF GOD. May it continue all year long!
