Personal Evangelism – 23.10. 08

Just now I printed a good number of leaflets on good quality paper to give to people. Will put them in a special bag and take them with me from now on. [In German (WEIHNACHTEN IM SEPTEMBER) and English (AT THE END OF THE DAY)]

I spoke today to a couple from Germany and to a Maori lady recently back from Australia, but again without literature.

All were Catholics.

The Catholic Church teaches: “No one can know if he will attain to eternal life.”

The Bible teaches: “The believer can know that he has eternal life by the Word of God” (First John 5:13)

DO YOU KNOW, THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE?

“MY OWN WAY”

“My own way” I saw written today on a campervan. “My own Way?”

What does the Bible say about my own way?

Isaiah 53:6 “.., each of us turned to his own way;…”

Acts 14:16 “In the past, he let all nations go their own way.”

Signs in the Gospel of Matthew

In Matthew 12:38,39 the Pharisees and the Teachers of the law want to see a miraculous sign from the Lord. But read the answer of the Lord.

In Matthew 16:1,4 the Pharisees and Sadducees come to the Lord to test him. They want to see a sign from heaven. But read the answer of the Lord.

In Matthew 24:3 (Matthew 24:30) the disciples asking the Lord, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Read what the Lord as answering!

BITTERNESS AND JOY (ALONE WITH GOD)

Have you ever been sorrowful? Have you ever been troubled? Have you ever been overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death? Have you ever had a challenge you did not want to face?

Our Lord and Saviour was in a situation like that, when he said, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:26-39. The Lord asked three of his disciples to watch with him – but he found them sleeping – three times. Read Matthew 26:36-46

Proverbs 14:10 says,” Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy.”

Bitterness, sorrow, trouble — and you have to go it alone — but not without the Lord. Only the other day I read, “A True Friend walks in when the rest of the world walks out.” The Lord Jesus Christ is a True Friend! He will be also with us, when we go through the valley of death according to his promise in Matthew 28:20, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

WAS NOAH AN AMATEUR?

“Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the titanic.” – Anonymous

Genesis 6:9-22 Noah was:

1. a righteous man,

2. blameless among the people of his Time,

3. and he walked with God

NOAH DID EVERYTHING JUST AS GOD COMMANDED HIM.

Was he an amateur?

CHOOSE A BRIGHTER FUTURE

Type “FUTURE” into “SEARCH” and read more about the Future!

Today I picked up a flyer at the ASB and on the leaflet it says:

“INVEST IN YOUR FUTURE.  AND OUR CHILDREN’S.”

People are talking about the FUTURE.

1. Have they been doing that all the time?

2. When did the talking about the FUTURE start?

DEATH – Where journeys begin!

“WHEN EVERYTHING LOOKS THE DARKEST, IT’S TIME TO TURN ON THE LIGHTS,” I read today in a small publication. I agree with that. So, let us turn to the Bible and read it and be taught by God the Holy Spirit. He will turn the lights on for us.

That happened actually to me this morning in sort of a way. Does not look everything darkest for all of us, when death comes?

At the moment I am reading Paul’s letter to the Romans in the New International Version and the verses twelve to twentyone in chapter five are summarized under the heading “DEATH THROUGH ADAM, LIFE THROUGH CHRIST.”

To summarize again: Death is a fact! There is no need to believe that! The BIble explains that death came through Adam. I believe that. Why? Because death is a fact. No doubt about that.

Death – Where the journey begins! The blessed message of death!

Read the whole story of “Death through Adam and Life through Christ” in Romans 5:12-21.

Romans 5:18,19

Consequently,

1. just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men,

so also the the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life to all men.

2. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners,

so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

PRAISE THE LORD!

IT IS THE FIRST ON THE LIST

The hymn “Because He Lives” came to my mind some days ago and I still cannot forget it. It is actually one of my favourites.

In church today I asked the songleader if it would be possible to sing the hymn in the church again. To my surprise she answered,” I have already planned to sing it next Sunday and it is in fact the first song on my list.”

I am glad, that I went to her to talk about my request.
