We are all looking for happiness! Have we lost happiness in the past? Or is it a peak to be arrived at in some distant FUTURE?

HAPPINESS CAN ONLY BE EXPERIENCED IN THE NOW! Difficult to understand?

See how many times you can find the word “happy” in Matthew chapter five in the verses one to eleven.

I counted the word happy just now 8 times and the word happiness once.

Today I picked up a little booklet at The Warehouse with quotes from real Dads. Here are three:

“Every moment they put their trust in us… we gotta be there for them.”

“My Dad said he loved me before he died.. it was the best thing anyone has ever said to me.”

And here is the last one. I like it very much!

“What sort of legacy are we going to leave our kids?”

Good question! A picture goes with it. You can see the backs of three people sitting on a bench looking towards the sea, Dad with his two children. On the left a big tree and on the right houses. A very impressive picture indeed.

Are we teaching them, that there is a heavenly Father they must trust? And that the heavenly Father is always there for them?

Are we teaching them, that there is a heavenly Father who loves them so much, that HE sent HIS only Son Jesus Christ to die for them?

This verse from my wall calendar struck me this morning!

The Dekarski’s have a car,

but they don’t go very far.

Whenever they go out of town,

they do it with a frown.

This time it’s the gears,

that give them lots of fears.

And next time it’s the a brakes,

which cause them many aches.

I remember a lady missionary in Thailand saying something like this,”I was alone on the station and felt lonely. The worst thing was, that I had nobody to talk to.” When I heard that at that time many years ago I did not understand, what she was on about, but years later I found out for myself how true it is that “Everybody needs someone to talk to.”

I am so glad, that the Lord Jesus Christ is my friend and that I can talk to HIM everywhere all the time. That is really something! And the best thing is, that I get also answers. Are you wondering, how that is possible? Somebody answered that question already like this,”Don’t you know the Voice of your Father?”

The ASB Bank advertises the “KIWISAVER.”

“Saving for tomorrow, today.” Saving for the FUTURE! On the same flyer it says,” Get $1,000 to build your FUTURE.” “KiwiSaver was set up by the Government to help Kiwis save for the FUTURE.” “The earlier you start, the better your FUTURE could be.”

In order to find out what the BIBLE says about the FUTURE I looked up a concordance* — and what a surprise, I did not find the word FUTURE at all. First of all I thought there must be something wrong with my eyes.

PSALM 116:15

PRECIOUS IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD IS THE DEATH OF HIS SAINTS.

When I opened the paper today I came again to the column with the title “BOTH FEET ON THE GROUND” and I started to think……

To keep one’s feet on the ground means to be practical and reliable.

But what about the ground we are standing on?

I have also another paper in my hand. On two pages in this paper Concrete Services are advertised. On a third page of the same paper it even talks about “Sure Step Pavers.” The concrete Services are advertising “Concrete Drives, paths, shed floors, Plain, exposed and decorative concretes.” “Foundation block work” is also mentioned.

What kind of ground are we standing on? Is it slippery ground or concrete or are we standing on good “foundation block work?”

We can stand on the best “foundation block work.” There is a verse in the Bible I know off by heart. In First Corinthians 3:11 it says, “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid which is JESUS CHRIST.” The Lord Jesus Christ wants to be our sure foundation! And He is the only foundation.

Only when the Lord Jesus Christ is our foundation we are really practical and reliable. When the Lord Jesus Christ is our foundation we are also standing on holy ground like Moses. Exodus 3:5
