“MY”

I am looking at a calendar from Paper PLus Kaitaia and I am reading,”Paper Plus–My Books. My stationary. My store.” ( I wish, it would be My store, but it is not, as you well know)

Every morning I am reading from CH Spurgeon “Morning and Evening” and today (21.04 08) the Reading is from Job 19:25 Spurgeon starts with “The marrow of Job’s comfort lies in the little word “MY”– “My Redeemer,” and in the fact that the Redeemer lives.

And of course I do not really want to say,”My store.” But Iam glad, that I can say,”My Redeemer.”–“MY REDEEMER LIVES!”

CAN YOU SAY THAT?

The Time of My Life

I received today the Autumn 08 “WESTPAC WORD.” At the top it also says, “Westpac Making the most of life.”

In one of the articles in the Autumn 08 issue somebody is congratulating Westpac for crossing out the word “Retirement” and subsitituting it with “the time of your life.”

And I am actually having the time of my life. But I am only having the time of my life, because I know the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour. Do you? First John 5:13

Think about it:

Not what we are giving to the Lord makes us poor, but what we are keeping back.

To believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died is history, but to believe that he died for ME is redemption.

The Future again!

THE BEST THING ABOUT THE FUTURE IS THAT IT COMES ONLY ONE DAY AT A TIME.– Abraham Lincoln — The Bible says in Deuteronomy 33:25 The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze, and your strength will equal your days.

Read that verse also in the RSV.

Sometimes we want the strength for several days or several years. Or even the strength we need when we are on our deathbeds. But we don’t have it and don’t need it.

ONE DAY AT A TIME!

The Lord taught me that once when I was in Batu in Indonesia on my way to Germany. I still remember the morning, when I found a booklet about that in my room.

Mobile Phones (Sounds to me like a Fairy Tale)

In the February 08 brochure of TELECOM we read “Telecom” ” Connecting New Zealanders.” It is also the issue which has the results of the survey conducted recently concerning Mobile Phones. (More than 2 000 Kiwis took part)

I am quoting,” Almost one in five would prefer to lose a finger or a toe than be permanently deprived of their mobile.”

“More than 50 percent of participants wouldn’t stop using a mobile for less than a million dollars. A further third said they’d need to be paid five million dollars to ditch their devices.”

It also says,”Mobile phones are so essential to our lives that we take them with us everywhere.”

I wish we would feel all that about the BIBLE, the Word of the Living God. The Bible is not only connecting people. The BIBLE is connecting people with God.

Are we willing to make some big sacrifices to save the Bible? Are we choosing the Bible over cash? Is the Bible so essential to our lives, that we carry it with us wherever we go?
