SURPRISE! SURPRISE! SURPRISE!
I did not expect to find the BIBLE on THAT list. But what a surprise, there was number 14 and it said: “THE BIBLE. The foundation stone of Christianity continues to inspire and guide.”
I am talking about the Whitcoulls List where it says,” Discover the 100 best books in the world as voted by New Zealanders .” It continues to say,” Your votes have been counted and the results are in store now…Welcome to the latest Whitcoulls Top 100 List, which reflects what NZ really love to read.”
It also says,” How have the rankings changed since the last list?” The ranking movement key for the BIBLE says,” Book has stayed in the same position.”

Anzac Day-25/4/2008
I am working on a leaflet for Anzac Day and maybe I can even get the leaflets printed before the 25th of April. I am in touch with printers.
I know there is so much activity (christian) going on– but what we need is more earnest prayer!
LEST WE FORGET
In front of the New Lynn Library in Auckland you can see a monument with the following writing: “LEST WE FORGET- In memory of those who served and gave their lives.”
When I read that today I straight away thought : LEST WE FORGET- In memory of Him who served and gave his life!
I am thinking now of course about the life of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
It is all very well to think about the people who died in the wars. I also lost my father in the second world war. I never knew him. I never met him. I have no memories of him. In fact I don’t even know where he died. Probably it was in Czechoslovakia. Maybe it was not. Who knows? So far as I know his name is not written on one of those monuments. There are also many like me who grew up without a father. It is sad to grow up wihout a father; but if you have to you have to. I had to anyway.
OK, we should not forget our dead soldiers who died in battle. But if we should forget, there are not too many consequences. But if we forget the Lord Jesus Christ and what He has done for us there are eternal consequences. We are all living forever either with the Lord or without him.
Because in order to stand before God the Father, we need the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ, because we are all sinners. As we are born we cannot stand before God, the Father.
When the Lord Jesus Christ becomes our personal Saviour, God becomes our heavenly Father and looks after us. From my own experience I can say it is so good to be able to say,” My Father in Heaven!”
Mark 10:45

In a sermon some time ago the pastor said: “Some people are dead by the age of 30 but get buried when they are 60 years old.”
WAS IST LIEBE?
Don’t miss your chance (offer-time of grace) to be found….
I was looking for a phone number in the phone book and the book opened automatically where it says: “Don’t miss your chance to be found.” “Drive more buyers to your business.” ” Book today. 0800 803 803″
Eventually I found the number I was looking for.
Don’t miss your chance to be found. Straight away this came to my mind: Don’t miss your chance ( offer-time of grace) to be found by the Lord.
The meaning of course is: Don’t miss your chance to be found in the PHONE BOOK!
But this is more important, in fact it is the most important thing in your life: Don’t miss your chance (offer- time of grace) to be found in the BOOK OF LIFE.
The Bible, the Word of the Living God, talks quite a bit about the Book of Life: Exodus 32:32; Psalm 69:29; Daniel 12:1; Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:5; Revelation 17:8; Revelation 20:12,15–
PS: On top of everything else we cannot miss our chance to be known by our creator. He knows us! Psalm 139, the whole Psalm, especially the verses 7-10.

As seen on a fridge magnet:
I was actually quite surprised to see the following writing:
“How many roads must a man walk down, before he admits he is lost”
Many are even walking down to the grave without admitting that they are lost sinners!
Romans 3:23
Separating rail and road FOR A BETTER FUTURE!
THERE IS ALWAYS TALK ABOUT THE FUTURE
A big poster says,” New Lynn Rail Trench– Separating rail and road for a better FUTURE!” And a couple of meters away I encounter the future again. But they are talking here about the same project. It says,” Creating a bright future!”
And then you can buy a small shopping bag for only 99 cents. It says,” Make a difference- Reduce–Reuse–Recycle–Help us to create a better environment- Every bag counts.” I only hope that we are not haunted by the future.
While we used to be in Thailand I remember listening to a speech by the former US president R. Nixon and he was working towards a better future for the next generation.
Only a couple of days ago I picked up the local paper and there is also a politician talking about the future, “The future our kids deserve.” In the article it says: “National has outlined policy that forms part of our plan for giving young people the future they deserve.”
But what about your FUTURE? What about my FUTURE? I am so glad that my future is in the hands of the almighty living God, the creator of heaven and earth. And that includes not only my life on planet earth, but that includes also my eternal life with our eternal God.
ON TO THE MISTY FLATS
From the first time I read the following translated into the German language about 50 years ago I was deeply impressed with what John Oxenham had to say and I am still very much impressed after 50 years:
TO EVERY MAN THERE OPENETH A WAY AND WAYS AND A WAY. AND THE HIGH SOUL CLIMBS THE HIGH WAY AND THE LOW SOUL GROPES THE LOW AND IN BETWEEN ON THE MISTY FLATS THE REST DRIFT TO AND FRO. BUT TO EVERY MAN THERE OPENETH A HIGH WAY AND A LOW AND EVERY MAN DECIDETH THE WAY HIS SOUL SHALL GO.
John Oxenham
Martin Luther:
“It is impossible” says M. Luther,” for a person to be a Christian without having Christ; and if he has Christ he has at the same time all that is in Christ. What gives peace to the conscience is, that by faith our sins are no more ours but Christ’s upon whom God has laid them all; and that, on the other hand, all Christ’s righteousness is ours, to whom God has given it.”
